The asimov thing reminds me of how i felt when i first watched 'i, robot'. It bore very, very little resemblance to the actual book, but what irritated me even more was that they didn't even bother to recite his three laws of robotics, on which the entire book is built. Hell, even bishop in 'aliens' spouted off two the three laws casually*.
*Aliens also pays considerable homage to heinlein**, by virtue of its very existence. I laughed my ass off when i heard harlan ellison's response to the news that there was a 'starship troopers' film in production; 'why? They made it into a movie ten years ago, the called it 'aliens'.
*Sighs*
Now that i think about it, classic science fiction has never gotten any /real/ love from hollywood...
** This is the part where i recommend one of my all-time favorite books, robert a. Heinlein's 'the moon is a harsh mistress'. If you haven't read it, you should. It is amazing on so many levels, it's ridiculous. And after you read it, draw fanarts of it. I'd love to see how roman jones visualizes manny, wyoh, the professor, and luna city in general!
