... that the word 'transman' is apparently an offensive slur.

The lovely Amanda Manning at Cracked.com informed me last night about the article we're publishing that they needed to change the word every time it appeared in the text in case it would offend someone somewhere's delicate self-imposed triggers. We both laughed at how silly that is but agreed to change it anyway - no one needs a fight over something so trivial.

I will joke about it, however.

Gee golly jeepers I and my fellow trans boyfriend use that word every day and all this time we've been a pair of transphobic jerkwads I mean what the Funk and Wagnalls is our deal.

But get this: if there is a space between the word 'trans' and 'man' it's suddenly a family friendly term for grandma to enjoy. We should get with the program already, sheesh.

I don't know, I guess that finding out that a term used to describe us that we use every day to describe ourselves is apparently a slur is just about the funniest thing that's happened all month. Is this a reverse of how women felt in the 90's when people started using 'bitch' as a positive term?

I'm still using it, though. My brain is too elderly to grasp modern vocabulary and change is a frightening thing.

This has been Sarcasm Saturdays with Ro.

I feel like i run into this kind of thing every time i open my mouth on the subject of gender equality ,politics, or religion.... and being that i am intoxicated about, always it is hard to prevent myself from speaking about things like cannibalism.(for some reason this seems to offend a lot of people)
